Preparations for the introduction of COVID 19 Vaccine in the States and UT’s.

Chandigarh.12 December,2020:The COVID-19 pandemic has adversely impacted lives across the globe. The Government of India has started preparations for the introduction of COVID 19 Vaccine in the States and UT’s.
In this regard a Virtual Meeting of the District Task Force Committee was conducted under the chairmanship of Deputy Commissioner , UT Chandigarh for smooth delivery and implementation of COVID-19 Vaccination where Senior Officials of the Administration including Director health services, SSP ,ADC, SDM’s , DPR ,SMO’s , Nodal officers from PGIMER, GMCH 32 , representatives of UNDP,IMA, IDA,IAP and NIMA participated where the details were discussed regarding the vaccine rollout and implementation The Deputy Commissioner apprised the members of the upcoming task and the need to make it a great success with coordination of all the stakeholders. Director Health Services shared that vaccine introduction will be in phased manner due to huge demand and as per Government of India directions the Healthcare workers would be given priority followed by frontline workers, person above fifty years of age , comorbid population. During the vaccination sessions all beneficiaries will be preregistered with predefined session sites and trained vaccinators,SMS will be sent to beneficiaries for vaccination with details of session site, date and time.The session sites will have separate entry and exit points,.The sites will be at GMSH16 , GMCH32 , Civil hospitals .The sites can also be at govt schools , community centre when program is scaled up . Post vaccination all beneficiaries will get online certificate.
Cold chain preparedness has been undertaken by State health teams. Health care worker’s database has been compiled and is being uploaded on cowin portal .Data of frontline workers is also being compiled.The AEFI committee has been revised as per GOI guidelines.
