A short film for promotion of Organ Donation released by ROTTO PGIMER & PGI Nurses Welfare Association on 4th day of week-long campaign launched to mark the Observance of upcoming 11th Indian Organ Donation Day

Carrying forward the mandate to promote the cause of Organ Donation,
the 4th day of ROTTO’s week-long Campaign launched to mark the
observance of upcoming 11th Indian Organ Donation Day concluded
successfully with the release of an extremely engaging short film ‘Nai
Soch Naye Rishton Ki’ by Prof. Jagat Ram, Director PGIMER at an
impressive function here at PGIMER today.
The other dignitaries present on the occasion included Prof. G.D.Puri,
Dean (Academics), Prof. A.K.Gupta, Medical Superintendent &
Head, Dept. of Hospital Administration, Mr. Kumar Gaurav
Dhawan, DDA, Mr. Kumar Abhay, Prof. Vipin Koushal, Addl.
Medical Superintendent & Nodal Officer, ROTTO, Prof. Ashok
Kumar, Addl. Medical Superintendent & Official Spokesperson, Dr.
Navneet Dhaliwal, Assistant Professor, Deptt. of Hospital
Administration, Ms Jaspal Kaur, Chief Nursing Officer, Ms Manjeet
Kaur, Nursing Superintendent, Ms Hitika Thakur, President, PGI
Nurses Welfare Association and other senior functionaries of the PGI
Nursing Welfare Association and ROTTO PGIMER.
Lauding the proactive engagement and collaborative efforts of both
ROTTO and Nurses Welfare Association, Prof. Jagat Ram, Director
PGIMER endorsed the need for public education as he stated, “The basic
premise is to initiate the much needed conversation in the society to
dispel myths & misconceptions and disseminate correct information to
promote the noble cause of Organ Donation. The initiatives like this short
film provide a good platform to generate awareness and thereby, help in
saving precious lives, otherwise being lost due to shortage of
transplantable organs.”
The Director further added, “Over the last few years, the number of
deceased donor transplants have been steady in PGIMER and enhanced
awareness has definitely been an enabling factor along with synergised
efforts by the concerned departments.”
Drawing an analogy with COVID-19, Prof. (Dr.) Vipin Koushal, Addl.
Medical Superintendent & Nodal Officer, ROTTO PGIMER stated,
“The crisis of COVID-19 has also taught us that when we stand together
and put in a joint and collaborative effort, we can deal with any
impossible challenge, be it the insurmountable challenge of pandemic of
COVID-19. And today’s short video reiterates the same sentiment of
humanity and camaraderie, which can help tide over the deficit of organ
requirement.”
Ms Hitika Thakur, President, PGI Nurses Welfare
Association, feeling elated with the response to short , shared, “The
intent of the campaign was to engage with community and medical
fraternity in particular and motivate them to pledge for organ donation
through infotainment activities. Going by the experience, we will further
advocate for the cause through multiple social media platforms to
maximise outreach.
The function concluded with felicitation of cast and crew of the short film
as well as winners of the poster making completion on the theme of
Organ Donation and the winners included Ms Honey Saini awarded first
prize, Ms Divya Sharma won the 2nd prize and Ms Christina Mary Jose
was given away the 3rd prize
