Post Graduate Government College for Girls- 42, today celebrated ‘Rashtriya Ekta Diwas’ or National Unity Day in collaboration with Education Department, Chandigarh Administration to commemorate the birth anniversary of Sardar Patel. On this occasion college organized National Webinar On theme “Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel & Unification of India: A Constitutional PerspectiveSh. Rubinderjit Singh Brar Director Higher Education, Chandigarh Administration was Chief Patron, Sh. Bikram Rana State Liaison Officer (NSS) Chandigarh Administration was Guest of Honour and Dr. Anil Thakur Department of Law Panjab University, Chandigarh was key note speaker. Prof. (Dr.) Nisha Aggarwal, Principal of college welcome the Chief patron, Guest of honur, Key Note speaker and Participants. She also introduces the theme of Webinar and discussed that it is a day when we reinforce our dedication to preserve and strengthen unity, integrity and security of the nation. In a truly masterful display of statesmanship, Sardar Patel ensured a smooth integration of the troubled domains by not allowing the situation to deteriorate into civil unrest. There was neither bloodshed nor any kind of rebellion as he went about the task of building a strong India with a missionary zeal .To him belongs the legacy of merging over 560 princely states into the Union of India. As part of National Unity Day Celebration we are recalling Sardar Patel’s contribution to the unification of India. Patel’s tireless efforts paid off when most of the rulers agreed to the dissolution of their respective states, surrendering control of thousands of villages, jagirs, palaces, and institutes, cash balances amounting to crores and a railway system of about 12,000 miles to the Indian government without receiving any compensation.

Shri Vikram Rana gave a tribute to Iron man Sardar Patel and said that Sardar patel most popular leaders of the freedom struggle. Stoic and simple in his habits, he was a man of few words but when he did talk, people listened. Sardar Patel worked with astonishing speed to dismantle the history of imperialism and create the geography of unity with the spirit of nationalism. India can never forget his steadfast leadership, national dedication and tremendous contribution. Keynote speaker Dr. Anil Thakur discussed the role of ‘Sardar Patel, in constitutional perspective and analyzed the social, economic and political unification through constitution. Mr thakur said that Patel saved India from Balkanization and integrated even the weakest of limbs into the national framework. According to him, the actual acknowledgment for the formation of the Indian Civil Service in free India goes to Sardar Patel. His argument led to form a ground work for Unified National Administration. Patel had the vision to create a strong and vibrant administrative system for Unity of India. In last Prof. Punam Agrwal gave vote of thank to the guests, participants and organizing team. Dr.Nemi Chand, Assistant Professor was moderator of the webinar and Mr.Mehar Chand, Dr.Preeti Shard and Sangam Verma are part of Organizing team.
