Transgender Welfare Board Meeting,

5th Meeting of Transgender Welfare Board, Chandigarh was held under the Chairmanship of Mr. Sachin Rana, IAS, Additional Deputy Commissioner, Chandigarh. The meeting was attended by Mrs. Navjot Kaur, PCS, Director Social Welfare,Sh.Rajiv Tewari, Director Public Relations, State Liaising Officer, Department of Education, Mx. Kajal Mangal Mukhi (non-official member of Transgender Welfare Board), and Representative from PGIMER, SLSA, Municipal Corporation, SCBC Corporation, Health Department, Police Department etc. The Board reviewed the action taken by various Departments of U.T Chandigarh on the minutes of its last meeting.
The Chairman directed the officials attending the meeting to ensure that every effort should be made to protect the rights of the transgender and to provide a conducive environment for their welfare.
The State Liaising Officer, Department of Education, Chandigarh informed that the Transgender students can avail benefits of Scholarship till Phd level. In the meeting it was decided that intense awareness programs on rights of Transgender People will be carried out in U.T Chandigarh via print, electronic and social media in order to sensitize civil society .
