A 7-days online Faculty Development Programme (FDP) was inaugurated today on the theme of National Education Policy, 2020: Deliberations for Implementation which is being organised by the Department of Community Education and Disability Studies in collaboration with UGC-Human Resource Development Centre of Panjab University, Chandigarh.
25 participants from Maharashtra, Rajasthan, Delhi, Uttarakhand, Himachal Pradesh, Punjab and Chandigarh are attending the programme which will have session experts from eminent institutes in Kolkata, Chennai and Delhi. Themes for discussion range from school education to multi-disciplinarity, technology, professional development, multi-linguism and governance in the context of NEP, 2020.
Speaking at the inaugural session, Prof Kuldip Puri, Professor in Education, University School of Open Learning (USOL), Panjab University brought forward the anomalies, confusions and conflicts in the document and ask the teachers to engage with it in a critical and positive manner. He said, it is the teachers who bear the onus of effective implementation of the plan and they should take their roles seriously.
Prof SK Tomar, Director, HRDC, highlighted that the takeaways from the NEP.2020, should be reflected in the research, teaching and behaviour of the faculty members. Only then it will be implemented in the true sense.
