Chandigarh.1 October,2020:Wildlife Week is observed during the first week of October all over the country, with the objective of raising awareness among masses for conservation of Wildlife and its habitat. The Department of Forests & Wildlife, Chandigarh is organizing various programmes during the week to sensitize and generate awareness among the masses for the Protection and Conservation of Wildlife, Nature and Natural resources.

In this regard, the Department of Forest & Wildlife, UT Chandigarh on 01st October, 2020 has launched the Wildlife Week-2020 celebration with the releasing of newsletter titled “Jungle Book” by Shri Anant Pandey, IFS, Chief Conservator of Forests, Haryana in presence of Sh.Debendra Dalai, IFS, Chief Conservator of Forest & Chief Wildlife Warden, UT Chandigarh and Dr.Abdul Qayum, IFS, Deputy Conservator of Forests, UT Chandigarh. This newsletter Jungle Book is in the form of communiqué which contains variety of information like facts, events and important areas that need special mentions. On this occasion, Chief Guest appreciated the effort of the department for such occasion which is an important step in the direction of lodging and writing the golden chapters of Chandigarhs environment history.

The Chief Guest further informed that the activities of the department must have sensitized the stakeholders, especially the children to appreciate the beauty of the nature and to protect our valuable National treasure. I am sure that all these efforts of the department will disseminate the conservation message among the masses, which in turn will help all of us to protect and conserve nature and natural resources.

In this series, the department on the occasion of ‘Gandhi Jayanti’ on 02nd October, 2020 shall open the gates of Sukhna Wildlife Sanctuary (Kansal & Nepli), UT Chandigarh for the general public which was closed due to the outbreak of COVID-19 and further onset of monsoon season.
