Stepping towards Malnutrition Free Chandigarh
Chandigarh.26th September 2020:With the mission to achieve Malnutrition free Chandigarh, The Department of Social Welfare Women & Child Development, Chandigarh Administration is celebrating third Rashtriya POSHAN Maah, 2020. During the celebration enormous Nutrition awareness activities are being conducted from 1st September 2020 and will continue till 30th September 2020 to reach the milestone.
Today, in continuation diverse activities were carried out i.e.
Cycle rally to fight against anaemia-“Pedalling for a cause” at Mauli Jagra where the people especially pregnant women and adolescent girls are awarded on Anaemia and to increase Vitamin C intake, to Eat more and more green vegetables to win over the anaemia.
Online Lectures were conducted to reach the maximum public digitally, on Nutrition and Health of Women and Children in the Context of Covid-19, Importance of immunization, Lecture on how to take care of a Severly Acute Malnutrition child, Lecture on need of supplements like iron, calcium, etc
During Poshan Train Event, in sector 29 B Park the pledge was taken to avoid junk food and focussed on adapting Nutritious Healthy Diet by field functionaries and local beneficiaries.
Activities were organised for motivational and inspirational awareness includes Lecture on Awareness about calcium rich food, complimentary feeding Hand wash activities
Youth group meeting and Home visit (lactating mother) has been carried out today in UT Chandigarh in all 450 Anganwadi Centres.
A webinaar in convergence with Nutrition Society of India and Indian Dietetic Association on the topic of Immunity Boosting by eating healthy food was organised which was participated by Anganwadi Workers and Helpers for awareness at grass root level.
The mission is to reach the milestone of malnutrition free Chandigarh by continuously stepping towards it with the various Nutrition awareness activities and maximum public involvements to make it a Jan Andolan.
