Two dreaded criminals arrested, targeted people for loot and robbery

Chandigarh, Aug 26 – Haryana Police have arrested two dreaded criminals involved in a number of heinous crimes including four murders from Gurugram.

Giving this information here today, a Haryana Police spokesperson informed that arrested accused were identified as Ashok Chauhan, hailing from Mainpuri in UP and Mahesh, a native of Bihar presently residing at Gurugram. Both alongwith their associates used to stabbed victims with sharp-edged weapons before robbing them of their belongings including cash.

Four incidents of crime including one of loot and three of blind murders in Gurugram and Rewari have been worked out with their arrest. Both were nabbed from New Colony, Gurugram after the police received tip-off about their movements.

After registration of a case on June 28, in which a couple was brutally killed at a rented accommodation in Surya Vihar, a police team was constituted. Acting on intelligence and other inputs, police had arrested both dreaded criminals involved in four heinous crimes with the motive of loot and robbery.

During preliminary interrogation, the duo confessed to having killed the couple with a sharp-edged weapon after they trespassed into their house at night. The couple was tied up and stabbed multiple times with knife. Both also looted Rs 16000 from victims and escaped.

Their two associates are still at large which would be sent behind bars very soon. Further probe into the case is underway.

Criminal cases

On June 25, the accused had offered a lift to a man in their car and snatched his mobile phone and cash after stabbing him with a knife. Then they had thrown him in a drain in Sector 99 and fled.

On July 7, they offered lift to Uttam on a motorcycle near Minda Industry and killed him with a knife and stole his valuables. His body was found dumped in a vacant plot in Sector 92.

Using a similar modus operandi, the accused on July 8, had offered lift to a man from Kapriwas Chowk and killed him with a knife and later dumped his body in Sector 6, Dharuhera.
