Tribute to Mahatma Gandhi’ Nisargopchar Mahotsav Mega Naturopathy Event organised

Chandigarh,sunita shastri:Ministry of AYUSH is conducting 150 Nisargopchar Mahotsav across the country to mark the Mahatma Gandhi’s 150th birth anniversary, in the spirit of gratitude and inspiration to his contribution to humanity for promoting and practicing the basic human values such as Non-violence, Nature Cure, Sanitation and Health etc.One such Nisargopchar Mahotsav (Mega Naturopathy Camp) was conducted at Chandigarh (PG Govt. College, Sector 46) by National Institute of Naturopathy (NIN, Pune) in collaboration with Regional Centre For Entrepreneurship Development (RCED), Chandigarh & PGGC, Sector-46, Chandigarh. The event was inaugurated by Mrs. Raj Bala Malik, Mayor, Chandigarh. At the inaugural session others who spoke were Mrs. Harjinder Kaur, Chairperson, Chandigarh Commission for Protection of Child Rights, Shri S.L Thakur, IRS, (Retd.) Commissioner Custom & Excise, Chandigarh, Dr. Rishi Raj Vashishat, Chairman, Council of Indian Medicine, Govt. of Haryana, Dr. Kajal Gupta, Expert National Institute of Naturopathy, Pune, Dr. Rosy Walia, Principal, Post Graduate Govt. College, Sector-46, Chandigarh and S. Paramjit Singh, Director, RCED Chandigarh. Mrs. Mann Kaur, athlete of 104 years spoke on the occasion and was honored.The Chief Guest spoke about the practice of nature cure, which lays a lot of stress on the individual’s responsibility. She urged the students to take care of their health as it will help them achieve their personal and professional goals. She said that doctors should also be teachers and mentors and not just therapy dispensers. Ms. Harjinder Kaur stressed on the need to stay close to the nature more importantly, an individual’s engagement with the community and God. Dr. Kajal Gupta, expert, NIN said that the best way to pay tribute to the Father of the nation would be to adopt the practice of naturopathy. She also mentioned how food, exercise, cleanliness, education, work, employment all have a bearing on the health of an individual. RCED conducted different Pre-event competitions relevant to the theme different schools and colleges across tricity to motivate the youth to adopt the values of Mahatma Gandhi. Prizes were given to the winners of the pre event competitions during the Mahotsav itself.More than 800 people from different walks of life participated in this Mega Event. During the technical sessions, talks were delivered by Experts of Ayurveda, Yoga, Unani, Sidha, Homeopathy & Naturopathy. Dr. Geeta Mehra, Food Technologist, Dr. Poonam Aggarwal Thakur, Principal NIIFT, Mr. Gurdev Singh, Coach and Son of Bibi Mann Kaur, Dr. Deep Kaur, dietitian, My Diet My Way Clinic and Mr. Gursharan Singh, District Food Officer.During the technical sessions, talks were delivered by Experts of Ayurveda, Yoga, Unani, Sidha, Homeopathy & Naturopathy.
